Art the Clown watch-order guide

Terrifier Franchise Timeline

Three feature films. One silent performer turning Halloween into a nightmare.

The Terrifier feature series follows Art the Clown from a stripped-down night of violence into a larger supernatural mythology centered on Sienna Shaw.

The three films run in release order, with the second and third entries forming the clearest connected story. Earlier anthology appearances are useful background, but they are not required chapters in this feature timeline.

Continuity note

Where Art’s earlier appearances fit

Art the Clown appeared in short-form work and the anthology feature All Hallows' Eve before Terrifier. Those appearances establish the character's visual roots but do not need to be treated as required plot chapters. The feature trilogy is the cleanest continuity for a first watch.

Terrifier Frequently Asked Questions

How many Terrifier movies are in this guide?

There are three released feature films: Terrifier (2016), Terrifier 2 (2022), and Terrifier 3 (2024). Terrifier 3 became the highest-grossing unrated film in box-office history.

What order should I watch the Terrifier movies in?

Watch Terrifier, Terrifier 2, and Terrifier 3 in release order. The story proceeds forward, and the later films build directly on characters and mythology introduced in Terrifier 2.

Do I need to watch All Hallows’ Eve before Terrifier?

No. All Hallows’ Eve is an optional precursor that contains an earlier version of Art the Clown. Terrifier begins its own feature-film continuity and works without the anthology.

Are Terrifier 2 and Terrifier 3 directly connected?

Yes. Terrifier 3 continues Sienna and Jonathan Shaw's story after their confrontation with Art. Watching the second film first is important to understanding the returning characters and supernatural stakes.

Does the first Terrifier explain Art the Clown’s origin?

No. The first feature keeps Art deliberately unexplained. Later films expand the supernatural mythology around him, but his full origin remains unresolved and is expected to be addressed further in Terrifier 4.

Does Terrifier 4 have a release date?

No. Writer-director Damien Leone has warned viewers against unofficial dates. He has confirmed that the story is set around New Year’s Eve, but no studio release date has been announced.
