Place a film to see how your list compares with HorroRated’s.

                HorroRated’s horror franchise tier list

All 28 franchises with a watch-order guide, ranked by the average HorroRated verdict of their films, best first. Long series with weaker sequels sink. Tap a franchise to see its films ranked one by one and make your own tier list of it.

How the tier list maker works

                1. Pick your films. Tap a quick start, search the archive for up to 20horror movies, or open a franchise to get every film in the series.
                2. Place each poster. Tap a tier beside a search result, or tap a poster and pick its tier in the bar at the bottom of the screen. The next unranked film comes up on its own, and on a computer you can drag posters too.
                3. Compare with HorroRated. The maker counts how many films you put in the same tier as our verdict. Start from HorroRated’s tiers if you’d rather edit our list.
                4. Share it. Save a picture of your tier list for social media, or copy a link that opens your ranking. Your lists stay saved on this device.

Frequently Asked Questions About Horror Movie Tier Lists

What is the best horror franchise?

By average HorroRated verdict, X Trilogy ranks highest of the 28 horror franchises on our tier list: its 3 films average 4.7 out of 5. A Quiet Place (4.3), Evil Dead (4.3) and Terrifier (4.3) come next.

What is a horror movie tier list?

A horror movie tier list sorts films into ranked rows, from S (the very best) through A, B, C and D down to F (the worst). Films in the same row are roughly equal, so a tier list is quicker to make than a numbered top ten, and easier to argue about.

How do HorroRated’s own tiers work?

Every film in the archive has a HorroRated verdict, and each verdict is one tier: Legendary is S, Highly Recommended is A, Recommended is B, Worth a Look is C, If You’re Curious is D and Skip It is F. Use HorroRated’s tiers to start from our ranking, then move anything you disagree with.

Is the tier list maker free?

Yes. It’s free with no account or sign-up. Your lists are saved in your own browser, one for each franchise plus your own build-your-own list.

How do I share my horror tier list?

Use Share picture to send an image of your list through your phone’s share sheet, or save it as a PNG on a computer. Copy link gives you a web address that opens your exact ranking for anyone you send it to.
