Why it’s HorroRated
The Ring Two brings back Naomi Watts and original Ringu director Hideo Nakata and still can't match the first film. The deer attack sequence is bizarre and memorable for exactly the wrong reasons and the film loses the atmospheric dread of the original in favor of a more conventional supernatural plot. For completionists.
Synopsis
Rachel has relocated with Aidan when a new incident pulls the threat back into their lives. Hideo Nakata, who directed the original Ringu, takes over the American sequel but can't replicate the atmospheric control of the first film. The deer attack sequence is memorable for being so bizarrely wrong. A disappointing follow-up for fans of Gore Verbinski's original.
