Why it’s HorroRated
Part VII has the most interesting concept in the Friday franchise and Kane Hodder debuts as Jason here, immediately bringing a physicality to the role that defines the character going forward. The censors cut a lot of the kills which hurts it but the Jason vs. telekinesis premise is a lot of fun. A flawed entry with a great idea at its center.
Synopsis
Tina Shepard returns to the lake where something happened to her father and her uncontrolled ability disturbs more than the water. Kane Hodder debuts as Jason here and immediately brings a physicality that distinguishes his version from every actor who came before. The telekinesis concept is the most interesting premise in the franchise. The censors cut most of the kills, which hurts it, but the idea alone is worth something.
