Why it’s HorroRated
Handing the series to a new heroine gives it fresh energy, and Amelia Eve makes Gemma's fear and stubbornness easy to root for. Chase builds several strong scares out of ordinary places, a dentist's chair above all, and the idea that someone can drag objects out of the Further opens up the mythology in a useful way. The rules get over-explained in the back half, and the villain is more striking to look at than to understand. Still, it's the jolt the series needed, and newcomers can follow it without homework.
Synopsis
Insidious: Out of the Further (2026), directed by Jacob Chase, picks up the franchise after The Red Door as its sixth chapter. Amelia Eve plays Gemma, a single mother who learns she can cross into the Further, the spirit realm behind every film in the series, and carry things between that world and ours, a gift that makes her a target. Brandon Perea and Maisie Richardson-Sellers co-star, and Lin Shaye returns as Elise Rainier.
