Why it’s HorroRated

Hellseeker is a decent neo-noir memory puzzle that uses the Hellraiser mythology as a frame and it mostly works on its own terms. Craig Sheffer carries the unreliable narrator structure well and Kirsty Cotton's brief return gives it a thread back to the original. Serviceable direct-to-video horror for franchise fans.

Synopsis

Trevor Gooden has memory gaps and an uncertain grip on what led to his wife's death, and the puzzle box appears in the middle of his investigation into himself. Hellseeker uses the Hellraiser mythology as a frame for a neo-noir memory puzzle and the approach is more interesting than most direct-to-video franchise entries attempt. Kirsty Cotton's brief return threads it back to the original.
