Why it’s HorroRated
Coming back after a decade away, the series finds plenty to say about remakes and a generation raised on filming everything, and Hayden Panettiere's horror-savvy Kirby is a standout. Craven still knows how to stage a chase, and the opening's nesting-doll fakeouts are a clever warm-up. The middle stretch leans on familiar beats, and some of the new teens are thinly drawn. It's an entertaining return and a natural bridge between the original trilogy and the 2022 relaunch.
Synopsis
Wes Craven's final film, Scream 4 (2011) brings Sidney Prescott back to Woodsboro on a book tour just as a new Ghostface targets her teenage cousin Jill and her friends. Kevin Williamson returned to write, with Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette joined by Emma Roberts and Hayden Panettiere. Its jokes take aim at reboots, remakes and online fame.
