Why it’s HorroRated
Trading Woodsboro for movie studios makes the third chapter a satire of Hollywood itself, and Parker Posey steals nearly every scene as an actress determined to out-Gale Gale. The meta jokes about trilogies land, and wandering through a fake Woodsboro on a soundstage is a playful spin on the series' home invasions. But the scares are softer, the kills less inventive and the mythology starts to strain. Anyone attached to Sidney, Gale and Dewey will still have a good time seeing them together again.
Synopsis
Hollywood's backlots host Scream 3 (2000), the third film in Wes Craven's slasher series, as a new Ghostface stalks the cast of Stab 3, the movie-within-the-movie based on the Woodsboro murders. Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette return, joined by Parker Posey as the actress playing Gale, Patrick Dempsey as a detective and Scott Foley as the director, with Ehren Kruger taking over the screenplay from Kevin Williamson.
