Why it’s HorroRated
Skarsgård commits fully, FKA twigs brings an intriguing, restless energy, and one late opera-house rampage delivers the bloody, operatic action fans hoped for. Getting there takes far too long: the first hour is a slow, moody romance that never makes the couple's bond feel worth dying for, and the afterlife rules are muddled. It lacks the grief and grungy poetry that made the 1994 film so loved. Curious fans of the comic may want to see the opera scene; everyone else should revisit Brandon Lee.
Synopsis
James O'Barr's comic book gets another screen life in The Crow (2024), Rupert Sanders' gothic supernatural action-horror film starring Bill Skarsgård as Eric, who comes back from death to take revenge on the people who killed him and Shelly, his great love, played by FKA twigs. Danny Huston plays the villain, Vincent Roeg.
