Why it’s HorroRated
Spawn has ambitions that outrun its effects budget and its script, but the core character concept has real appeal and the costume design for Spawn himself looks great. John Leguizamo as the Clown is entertaining in a film that doesn't quite know what else to do. Worth one watch for fans of the comic.
Synopsis
Spawn negotiates a return to the living world in a form whose terms he didn't fully understand. John Leguizamo as the Violator is the film's most consistent source of energy. The CGI is visibly strained but the character design and pulp mythology have enough appeal to carry it for fans of the comics.
