The Descent Part 2 is a decent but clearly lesser follow-up to one of horror's best recent creature films. The cave setting is still effective and the creatures are still threatening but the original worked because of what we didn't know, and a sequel can't restore that. For viewers who found the first film's ending ambiguous and wanted resolution.

Synopsis

Jon Harris's sequel has competent craft but cannot replicate the claustrophobic dread of Neil Marshall's original, partly because the creatures are now fully known quantities rather than something half-glimpsed in the dark.
