Why it’s HorroRated
Ten episodes give Max Cady something the movies never could: time to wait, watch, and get under everyone's skin. Javier Bardem has made a career out of unnerving stillness, and pitting him against Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson turns a famous stalker story into a three-way contest of nerves. Antosca, the mind behind Channel Zero, moves the fight to Savannah and fills the margins with sharp faces, from CCH Pounder to Ron Perlman as Cady's father, plus a wink for longtime fans in Juliette Lewis. It's a classic thriller rebuilt for the binge era, and the dread compounds with every episode.
Synopsis
Max Cady walks out of prison and sets his sights on Anna Bowden, the attorney who represented him years earlier, in Cape Fear (2026), Nick Antosca's psychological thriller miniseries for Apple TV. Adapted from John D. MacDonald's novel The Executioners and the two films it inspired, the 1962 original and Martin Scorsese's 1991 remake, it stars Javier Bardem as Cady, with Amy Adams and Patrick Wilson as Savannah attorneys Anna and Tom Bowden. The danger soon reaches their children, Zack and Natalie, and Juliette Lewis, who played Danielle Bowden in the 1991 film, returns in a new role as Cady's half-sister.
