Why it’s HorroRated
Dream Master is the most polished of the Elm Street sequels and Renny Harlin directs with real visual flair. The dream sequences are inventive and the kills are creative enough to keep things interesting. Alice as the final girl is a step up from most of what the franchise produced. It leans more into Freddy as showman than as threat but it works on its own terms.
Synopsis
Alice Johnson inherits the Dream Master ability and the film gives her something to do with it that feels earned. Renny Harlin's visual energy is polished and the dream sequences are among the most elaborate in the series. Freddy is more showman than threat here, which is a trade-off, but the film works on its own terms.
