Why it’s HorroRated
Anyone who wanted the crossover nastier than its PG-13 predecessor gets their wish, with an R rating, a hybrid monster and a body count that spares very few. Wolf, a battle-scarred cleaner armed with acid, gadgets and a no-nonsense work ethic, is a fun idea for a Predator, while the woodland and hospital sequences pack a mean, gory punch. The trouble is that the townspeople barely register and much of the action is lit so darkly that it is hard to tell who is fighting whom. Worth a look for completists and creature-carnage fans, ideally on the brightest screen you own.
Synopsis
Picking up the moment the 2004 crossover ends, Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem (2007) drops its monsters on Gunnison, Colorado, where a hybrid creature and a spreading Xenomorph brood meet a veteran Predator sent to clean up the mess. Siblings Colin and Greg Strause, credited as the Brothers Strause, made it from Shane Salerno's script. Steven Pasquale, Reiko Aylesworth, John Ortiz and Johnny Lewis play the townspeople caught in a night-long, R-rated siege that runs through sewers, a diner, a hospital and a sporting goods store.
