Why it’s HorroRated
The pitch is right there in the title, and Paul W. S. Anderson delivers the matchup with real enthusiasm. Sanaa Lathan makes a grounded, capable lead, Lance Henriksen's presence is a lovely nod to Aliens, and the shifting pyramid gives the chase a puzzle-box rhythm. The PG-13 rating keeps the bite softer than either parent series, and most of the expedition team is thinly sketched, but the creature fights land with the glee of a kid smashing action figures together. Treat it as a monster mash with a big bucket of popcorn and it gives you exactly what the poster promises.
Synopsis
Two famous movie monsters finally share the screen in Alien vs. Predator (2004), as an expedition led by guide Alexa Woods (Sanaa Lathan) explores a pyramid buried deep beneath Bouvet Island. Paul W. S. Anderson wrote and directed it, casting Lance Henriksen as Charles Bishop Weyland, the industrialist bankrolling the dig, with Raoul Bova, Ewen Bremner and Colin Salmon on his team. Spun from a 1989 comic book crossover, it plays as a PG-13 creature brawl staged in stone chambers that rearrange themselves around the survivors.
