Why it’s HorroRated
Farewell to the Flesh expands the Candyman mythology and moves it to New Orleans which is a smart setting choice. Tony Todd remains compelling in the role and the film adds some real backstory that enriches the character. It's more conventional than the original and lacks that dreamlike quality, but it's a solid follow-up.
Synopsis
Annie Tarrant comes to New Orleans looking for answers and finds herself circling the Candyman mythology at a personal remove. Tony Todd returns and the city setting gives the film a different visual grammar than the original. Less disciplined than its predecessor but willing to take the mythology somewhere new.
