Why it’s HorroRated
Death Becomes Her is a Hollywood satire with real body horror underneath the comedy and it commits to both. Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn are both fully unhinged in the best way. The practical and early digital effects age better than most of what came after. It's mean, it's funny, and it has real teeth.
Synopsis
Madeline and Helen have spent decades fighting over Ernest and when a mysterious potion enters the picture both of them take it. What follows involves escalating physical consequences and a rivalry that can't be ended by conventional means. Zemeckis builds the comedy out of real body horror and Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn are both fully committed to the chaos.
