Why it’s HorroRated
Insidious Chapter 2 is a confident expansion that uses the original's mythology to tell a more complex story about time, possession, and the long consequences of what Josh Lambert did. Wan's direction is assured and the sequence in the Further is the franchise's best extended horror filmmaking. A worthy sequel.
Synopsis
Insidious: Chapter 2 picks up immediately after the first film and uses the Lambert family's continued experience with The Further to extend the mythology. James Wan directs again with more budget and the sequel benefits from the groundwork laid by its predecessor. The time travel elements add complexity the franchise would continue to build on.
