Jason Lives - Friday the 13th Part VI

Jason Lives is the entry that saved the franchise from the disaster of A New Beginning by returning to the simplest possible version of what audiences actually wanted, the real Jason, back at Crystal Lake, unkillable. Tom McLoughlin directs with a self-aware sense of humor that never tips into full parody, giving the film a playful, confident energy that most of the earlier sequels lacked entirely. The lightning-strike resurrection is genuinely absurd on its face, but the film commits to it with enough style that it works within its own internal logic. Jason himself becomes something closer to an unstoppable supernatural force here rather than a grounded killer, which sets the tone for how the character would be treated for the rest of the franchise. A confident, fun return to form that holds up as one of the series' better entries.
