Pearl is a Technicolor nightmare about a woman whose desires the world has no room for and Mia Goth's performance is the most fully committed thing in recent horror. Ti West shoots the farm and the war period with a stylized beauty that makes the violence feel more disturbing for being so gorgeous. The final monologue is one for the record books.
