Why it’s HorroRated
Psycho III is darker and stranger than its predecessor and Anthony Perkins directing himself as Norman gives it an extra layer of self-awareness that really works. It's not as tight as Psycho II but it has moments that actually surprise and it's a better film than its reputation suggests. Perkins brings real sadness to the character here.
Synopsis
Norman manages the motel and tries to hold onto the routine that keeps him stable while the house behind him tests his resolve. Anthony Perkins directed this one himself, and his familiarity with the character gives the performance an additional self-awareness about how far Norman has come and how close he still is to the edge.
