Why it’s HorroRated
Psycho II has no business being this good. Anthony Perkins brings real vulnerability to Norman and makes him someone you actually root for right up until you can't anymore. The film keeps you uncertain about what's real and what's relapse, which is exactly the right place to keep you. A sequel that earns its existence.
Synopsis
The state has decided Norman is better and he goes back to the only place he's ever known. New guests arrive, the house looms behind everything, and the film keeps you genuinely uncertain about whether Norman is in danger or is the danger. Anthony Perkins makes this work on pure performance, which is the only thing that could have saved it.
