Why it’s HorroRated
Bringing Neve Campbell back to the center is the right instinct, and her scenes as a mother fighting for her daughter carry real feeling. Williamson's first time directing a Scream film shows in sharp dialogue but flat staging, and the kills feel more routine than in the recent sequels. Its reveals lean heavily on the series' history, which will please longtime fans more than newcomers. Sidney devotees will want to see where her story goes; everyone else should start with the original.
Synopsis
Kevin Williamson, who wrote the 1996 original, directs Scream 7 (2026), in which Sidney Prescott (Neve Campbell), now living under her married name in a small Indiana town, must protect her teenage daughter, Tatum, from a new Ghostface. Courteney Cox returns as Gale Weathers, with Isabel May as Tatum and Jasmin Savoy Brown and Mason Gooding back as Mindy and Chad.
