Why it’s HorroRated
Moving the series to the city pays off in set pieces like a packed subway car on Halloween night and a ladder stretched between apartment windows, the tensest sequences the relaunch has produced. Jenna Ortega and Melissa Barrera have a convincing, protective sibling chemistry, and the film is willing to make Ghostface more brutal than ever. It also stretches credibility, and its big reveals lean on franchise lore more than surprise. A sturdy entry if the 2022 relaunch worked for you.
Synopsis
Manhattan replaces Woodsboro in Scream VI (2023), which follows Sam Carpenter, her younger sister Tara and their friends Mindy and Chad Meeks-Martin to college in New York as a new Ghostface follows them there. Radio Silence's Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett return as directors, with Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega and Courteney Cox, and Hayden Panettiere back as Kirby.
