Why it’s HorroRated
The Dentist works because Corbin Bernsen plays it completely straight. A dentist losing his mind over his patients is a premise built for camp, but Bernsen treats it as a character study and the horror lands better for it. Brian Yuzna directs with confidence and the dental procedure sequences are memorably uncomfortable. Better than it has any right to be.
