Why it’s HorroRated
Saw III is where the franchise tips fully into excess but Tobin Bell continues to be compelling as John Kramer and the expanded mythology has real interesting moments buried in it. It's considerably more brutal than the previous two without a proportionate increase in tension. For franchise fans who want to follow the story.
Synopsis
Saw III runs multiple storylines simultaneously, expanding John Kramer's history while a father named Jeff works through confrontations with people connected to his son's death. Tobin Bell's expanded presence anchors the film and the detail layered into John's history gives the franchise a complexity it hadn't earned through the first two entries alone. For franchise viewers who want to follow the story.
