Why it’s HorroRated
Hills Have Eyes 2 trades the original's raw family terror for a military setting that never quite comes to life. The mythology doesn't benefit from the expansion and the film is more interested in its setting than in doing something interesting with it. Functional horror that delivers the required genre beats without much personality.
Synopsis
National Guard soldiers on a training exercise find that the nuclear test territory is more extensively populated than anyone acknowledged. The film is more interested in its military setting than in expanding the mythology in interesting ways. A functional sequel that delivers the required genre beats without the first film's edge.
