Alexandre Aja's Hills Have Eyes remake is more viscerally intense than Craven's original, which is the most honest description of what it offers. The attack on the trailer is one of the most upsetting sequences in 2000s horror, deliberately so. It's a punishing film that goes further than it needed to. Not comfortable viewing, but effective.
Synopsis
A road trip detour leaves the Carter family stranded in New Mexico near territory that atomic testing contaminated and forgot. Alexandre Aja shoots the remake with a visceral directness that intensifies the original's already brutal logic. The attack on the trailer is one of the most deliberately upsetting sequences in 2000s horror and the film doesn't apologize for it.
