Alien: Earth is the best thing to happen to the franchise in decades and it backs that up completely. The Earth setting is a sharp update that gives the xenomorph threat a new kind of urgency and the show doesn't waste the premise. The creature work is excellent, the tension holds across the season, and it remembered that the original films were about working-class people in over their heads, not action heroes. Essential for franchise fans and a standout piece of horror television.
Synopsis
When the research vessel USCSS Maginot crashes on Earth, Wendy and a squad of tactical soldiers are first on the scene. What they find aboard sets off a chain of events putting them directly in the path of the planet's most dangerous biological threat. Set in the established Alien timeline, it uses the Earth setting to give the franchise's horror a scale and immediacy it hasn't had before.
