Why it’s HorroRated
Love Death and Robots is one of the most exciting anthology series in recent memory and the format, short animated films from different directors with no tonal consistency required, is exactly right for what it's trying to do. Some episodes are pure horror, some are dark comedy, some are something else entirely, and the best ones are stunning pieces of work. Sonnie's Edge, Beyond the Aquila Rift, and Bad Travelling are as good as anything in the genre. Tim Miller and David Fincher made something that stands completely on its own.
Synopsis
Tim Miller and David Fincher produced a Netflix anthology where no two episodes share a visual style, a tone, or a subject. Running times range from a few minutes to about twenty, covering military science fiction to cosmic horror to darkly comedic creature features. No recurring characters, no connecting threads — every episode stands completely alone, and the quality of the best ones is extraordinarily high.
