Why it’s HorroRated
28 Weeks Later opens with one of the best sequences in modern horror and Fresnadillo understood that a sequel to 28 Days Later needed its own perspective rather than just repeating the original. The bureaucratic horror of a failed resettlement gives it something to say. It doesn't top the original but it earns its existence completely.
Synopsis
An American-led NATO force has established a safe zone in London and begun resettlement when a single incident compromises everything. Fresnadillo directs with a different visual grammar than Boyle's original and the opening farmhouse sequence is as effective a piece of horror as anything in the first film. The sequel asks different questions and gets partial answers to all of them.
