Why it’s HorroRated
The Boy uses its doll premise to build real atmosphere and then earns the right to pull the rug out in the third act. The English country house setting is well-used and Lauren Cohan's performance grounds the increasingly strange situation. A film that delivers two different kinds of horror in one running time.
Synopsis
Greta arrives at Heelshire Manor and finds that the rules she's given about Brahms's care have more importance than she initially understood. The film builds atmosphere effectively around its premise before a final act that divides audiences who have settled into the premise's logic.
