The Conjuring 2 is the rare sequel that justifies its existence by deepening rather than just expanding. Wan's focus on the Warrens' relationship gives the haunting emotional stakes and the Enfield case gives him richer source material than Perron. Vera Farmiga's Lorraine is one of horror's best recent protagonists. A sequel that's as good as the original.
Synopsis
The Conjuring 2 follows the documented Enfield case through the Warrens' involvement, with Lorraine experiencing her own vision of something that connects to the larger demonic framework. James Wan's direction continues to be exceptionally controlled and the relationship between the Warrens is given more room here than in the first film. Vera Farmiga's Lorraine is one of horror's best recent protagonists.
