The First Omen is the most disciplined prequel the franchise has produced, building the mythology around Sister Cecilia's specific experience of institutional betrayal. Nell Tiger Free is the performance that makes it work and Arkasha Stevenson's direction takes the Vatican setting seriously rather than just using it as atmosphere. Better than the franchise deserved.
