Why it’s HorroRated
The Last Exorcism Part II abandons the found footage format and gains some visual freedom in exchange but loses the original's most effective quality: the documentary texture that made Nell's possession genuinely ambiguous. Ashley Bell commits fully and the New Orleans setting is used well. A sequel that delivers on its own quieter terms.
Synopsis
After the events of the first film, Nell is placed in a residential facility in New Orleans and the evidence of continued spiritual attention accumulates. Ed Gass-Donnelly directs the sequel with more visual confidence than the original's budget allowed. Ashley Bell returns and commits to the same physical work that distinguished her performance in the first film.
