Beyond Re-Animator brings the franchise to a satisfying conclusion with Jeffrey Combs sliding back into Herbert West as comfortably as ever. The prison setting gives the film a distinct energy from its predecessors and Brian Yuzna brings the same dedication to excess that defines the series. The finale is pure Re-Animator chaos. A fitting end.
Synopsis
West is incarcerated and a new medical officer's idealism gives him exactly what he needs to keep working. Brian Yuzna closes the trilogy with energy and the prison setting gives the creature sequences a different flavor from anything the series had done before. Combs returns to the role with total ease and the finale is the most elaborate the series ever attempted.
