The 2013 Carrie remake centers its protagonist with more empathy than the original had room for and Moretz and Moore make the mother-daughter dynamic the film's emotional engine. The prom sequence is well-executed. The original's dream logic is replaced by something more literal, which cuts both ways. A remake that makes its case.
Synopsis

Chloe Grace Moretz and Julianne Moore give performances that hold up and the finale is well-staged. The original's dream logic is absent, replaced by something more literal.
