Why it’s HorroRated
Everything worth seeing here runs through Sam Neill, whose silky, contemptuous Damien and scenes of quiet menace give the trilogy's capper a real sense of grown-up evil. The monks' hunt starts promisingly but turns repetitive, and the film's big apocalyptic ideas play out with surprisingly little tension. It also leans harder into cruelty than the earlier films without finding much new to say. Trilogy completists will want it, and it's a fun chance to see Neill early in his career.
Synopsis
Sam Neill plays the adult Antichrist in Omen III: The Final Conflict (1981), the third film of the original series, in which Damien Thorn, now running Thorn Industries, is named America's envoy in London as an astronomical sign heralds the Second Coming. Graham Baker directed from Andrew Birkin's script, with Rossano Brazzi as a priest leading a band of monks who hunt Damien with sacred daggers and Lisa Harrow as a journalist drawn into his orbit.
