The original Goosebumps TV series is a landmark piece of horror history. It introduced an entire generation to the genre and it holds up better than most children's television of its era. The anthology format means it covers an enormous range of horror subgenres and some episodes are legitimately effective even watching as an adult. The Night of the Living Dummy episodes alone are worth the whole series. Foundational family horror.
Synopsis
This adaptation of Stine's book series covered everything from haunted masks to living dummies to werewolf curses, all with just enough genuine threat to actually scare its target audience. Produced with more craft and commitment than most children's TV of the period. The best episodes have aged surprisingly well and the Night of the Living Dummy installments alone are worth the whole series.
