The Chucky series is the best thing to happen to the franchise in decades, expanding the mythology intelligently while leaning into the dark comedy that always made the character work. Brad Dourif and Jennifer Tilly are both back and both excellent, and Don Mancini keeps the tonal balance sharp — funny and disturbing — in ways none of the later films managed. Three seasons in and it hasn't lost the thread. One of the more surprising critical successes in recent horror television.
Synopsis
When a Good Guy doll turns up at a yard sale in Hackensack, New Jersey, a string of murders follows that begins tearing the community apart. As the investigation widens, figures from Chucky's past emerge with their own stakes in what happens next. Don Mancini returns to the franchise he created and delivers both legacy payoff and a new story worth following.
