Servant is one of the most sustained pieces of psychological horror television ever made and M. Night Shyamalan's involvement as an executive producer and director on key episodes gives it a formal control most horror TV never finds. The townhouse setting is used with extraordinary spatial intelligence across four seasons and the show's patience is both its greatest strength and the thing most likely to test yours. Lauren Ambrose is exceptional throughout. If you can give it time to breathe it pays off.
Synopsis
Dorothy and Sean Turner use a lifelike reborn doll as part of grief therapy after a tragedy and hire young Leanne Grayson to care for it. Strange things happen in the house after Leanne arrives and the atmosphere shifts in ways neither of them can fully account for. M.
