Extinction is the weakest of the original Resident Evil trilogy but the desert setting is visually distinctive and the post-apocalyptic scope gives Alice a different context. Milla Jovovich remains dedicated and the Umbrella cloning thread adds something to the lore. For franchise viewers keeping pace with the series.
Synopsis
Alice and a group of survivors including Claire Redfield travel west through a wasteland after Raccoon City's destruction spread beyond containment. Russell Mulcahy directs the third entry as a post-apocalyptic road film and the desert setting distinguishes it visually from the previous two. The Umbrella cloning program adds something to Alice's mythology.
