Stranger Things is one of the best horror TV series ever made and the first two seasons in particular are as good as the genre gets on any screen. The Upside Down is an original piece of horror mythology and the Hawkins ensemble is one of the more lovable groups of characters the genre has produced. It wears its 80s influences openly but never feels like pure pastiche. Essential viewing.

Synopsis

Twelve-year-old Will Byers disappears without a trace and the people closest to him start pulling on threads that lead to secret government experiments, an impossible alternate dimension, and a girl with abilities nobody can explain. Mike Flanagan directs several episodes himself. The deeper the investigation goes, the stranger and more dangerous Hawkins becomes.
